Apparently, it has been easy to go bankrupt, get hacked, give in to corruption, or otherwise fail to make a profitable business out of exchanging bitcoins for currency.

While many of these failures have affected individuals, to varying extents, each one has added to the bitcoin ecosystem, and today's new exchanges are more secure and fortified than ever. No matter how secure these exchanges become, there is a simple lesson to be learnt.

Possession is nine-tenths of the law, and in bitcoin, possession of the keys is ten-tenths of the law. If you don't control the keys anymore, it's not your bitcoin! That lesson will be learned as many times as it needs to. PC did, Web did, Bitcoin does. Thanks so much for recompiling the wallets. Would one of you be at all interested in taking on: I'll still be contributing to the repo occasionally during my own personal time but due to the nature of my current projects at my startup, and who we are working with, it is important that I not be directly associated with it as head dev or that any domains related to it be owned by me.

Our lawyers were super-duper clear on this issue and I cannot let my company's and biz partners success on our current project cannot be jeapardized by anything else at the moment. To this end I'm posting here first because if any of you are motivated enough to do rebuilds etc then you're likely interested in taking over for me as repomaster as well and I'd rather have my next bitcointalk post be an announcement to the case.

If you are, please reply to this issue and well go from there! All the best to you all and a happy new year! Feel free to contact me via email, you can use the KittehCoin contact form to do so.

Not sure if this reply is going to one person or many people but it is directed at the current lead dev of MEOW and hopefully other interested devs see it as well:. There are 2 subreddits, ran by 2 different mods.

The website doesn't link to wallets. The wiki needs updating badly, etc etc. I'm running the logo contest at the moment. I'm willing to pick this up but I need some windows people to help me out and another person to help with web stuff at time when I need to do marketing to wallet work.

On Fri, Jan 3, at For several reasons - legal contractual etc it is necessary for me to not be the head dev of this project nor the owner of the domains.

I'll still be contributing to the repo occasionally during my own personal time but due to the nature of my current projects at my startup, and who we are working with, it is important that I not be associated with it as head dev or that any domains related to it be owned by me.

Our lawyers were super-duper clear on this issue and I cannot company's and biz partners success on our current project cannot be jeapardized by anything else at the moment. I wish that they understood that this is an open source project licensed as such, not claim able as private IP, nor any form of conflict of interest unless I was foolish enough to work on this code base during business hours , not actual 'currency' in any real way, and that good developers commonly contribute to OS projects on their free time in order to become better programmers and learn from the community, and that my ability to get this little project off the ground in less than 48hours shows that I'm fast and proficient at what I do even when tackling code bases new to me, not that I'm distracted from my primary role in my company by a side project But they don't and I can't not listen to them nor am I willing to endanger my business partners or project in any way because of project.

So I must step down as head dev and have someone else take the repo and domains over and accounce a 'changing of the guard' on the KittehCoin thread. Do you have web experience? Maybe you could help with items like updating wiki and website. I can take over the repo. My only concern is that in the kittehcoin spec there was something about being able to send coins to IDs rather than just wallet addresses, would need more info from the current main dev on what the gamplan there is I'm willing to take over the repo and update it with the OSX wallet stuff but we would need more people to do this right.

Like I mentioned people should be enough. And what about the hosting of the website? Can we leave it where it is or would it need to be relocated? On Fri, Jan 3, at 4: I'm also talking to some people via PM on the board to see if we can get the team we need together. We can do this. People can take on multiple roles but I don't want anyone to feel overloaded, only sign up for what you can handle. Dwasyluk can you PM me on bitcointalk so we can continue this convo in private?

You know my handle or just check the ANN thread. Thanks for all your attention on KC, have further things to say over PM Thank you and to everyone who has bee. Carrying the KC torch these last few days! We will keep this rolling! On Jan 3, 5: I'm a Graphic Designer. So I don't think I'd be the one to be given any reigns on core dev. Waiting for email back On Fri, Jan 3, at 6: I can't take the lead on that, starting college soon.

Ok I have anoether person outside this thread that is also up for web help so maybe one can take the site and one can handle the wiki. I still haven;t heard from InPlay yet so I went and setup http: The more important piece is http: Already got 1 dev helping with the web stuff they have an account on my servers now. Are you comfortable handling the wiki? On Fri, Jan 3, at 9: Fixed via commit 82ee7ec.
