I figured it out. If anyone else has this issue when they try to start a session from ssh, you have to be sure that you export the display. Then start your miner. You can detach from the session by hitting ctrl-a and then ctrl-d. Then you can close the ssh session and the miner will continue to run.

You may have to install 32bit library, try googling the error and you should be able to find the commands to install the missing libraries. You can pretty much use settings for r9 x but just tone gpu engine and mem clock down a bit like 20 to 40Mhz. Try using Ubuntu if you can u should be able to run much higher than Windows.

Yeah I was about to order a BFL miner but if you do the math, the difficulty is exponentially growing for bitcoins while litecoin difficulty is growing steadily. What should I look for in video cards? I have researched a lot of cards and checked on the specs but need to ask what are the most important things to look at for this application. Are the R9 cards brand new? The fix is usually to find the right bios for it then it will boot past that. When you start the rig press F12 several times during the very beginning of start up before any screen comes on.
When you do this you will get to a screen where you can configure what the first drive the computer or rig will start from. Choose the one that says san disc or what ever type usbstick you have. Then save your settings and you should be set, your rig will boot from your usb.
