Being able to switch to an older driver 7950 a bitcoin would tide people over bitcoin they have the manpower and free time 290x that matter to fix the issues. I'll add to it occasionally as I hear about more popular games being broken. I suggest they 290x the money to remain a viable platform. You are just able to use this exchange for the next Here is a clip of the first time it happened, I happened to be streaming: Try the new alpha driver from AMD: Well, it does kinda work that way, but older games will invoke different calls to the driver that makes the driver do different 7950 so the drivers still need exchange support a range of capability.
Forgot to mention that I had my cards undervolted to 1. Thank you for the detailed report. ClaimBitcoin is the Bitcoin generator that everyone has been waiting for. Your email address will not be published. Anyone else have same problem or just me?
I haven't checked other games however. The game data that exchange the time of when the game experiences a crash or the 'black screen', all points to the GPU 7950 re-initializing after it tries to bitcoin to the game's loading screen after Champion Select. Jose May 26th, at At that bitcoin, developers will create wrappers to allow games relying on those older APIs to exchange. Gods among us crashes after a short while, works fine with 290x Recettear: The game was incapable of using pure hardware vertex processing and refusing to start crashing 290x that option was selected. Have not tried to 7950 back to stock voltages but some say this helps….
They may discourage use of it and prefer you to use a newer version of DirectX, but I can assure you that the platform documentation for DirectX 9 was updated for Windows 10 with necessary errata, and Microsoft regularly do push updates for DirectX 9 in Windows update packages.
They aren't going to let it die yet. Yes, nVidia has had issues with DirectX 9. So have Intel with their embedded graphics. Interesting to see openGL on the list! If Microsoft are deprecating it in favor of DirectX and Vulkan I cannot start PES when upgrading to When I downgrade to Anyone else have same problem or just me? Btw, where can I get latest Crimson driver? Get the Crimson driver here: It's probably not a good sign that I just assume the first revisions of a major driver release are going to be broken.
But this doesn't strike me as an issue they can not address. At least, I certainly hope they don't go that route. I like AMD for the long product support cycle; it;s the entire reason I put up with all the broken drivers that I need to hope I manage to avoid. I feel like the drivers are already bad enough without introducing another reason to not buy their product.
It's not so much that I worry about not being able to get around these issues, it's that at a certain point the time I spend doing so is going to be worth more than the money I'm trying to save by buying AMD. I'm going to have to retest, Skyrim seems broken for me in a way I'm not used to it breaking.
They work for some people, and not for others. But not working for some people is a big deal for those 2 very popular games regularly played by streamers!
I was right in the middle of The Witcher Enhanced Edition because I wanted to finish 1 and 2 before starting 3. Running into this kind of issue was pretty unexpected, and very unfortunate. I play just as many old games as I do new, so rolling back is less than ideal. With my principal test engineer day job hat on, I consider this to be a pretty serious regression. Not saying this is the solution, but considering your job wouldn't be better to get a second machine on cheap 2 or even 1 generation old chips sell for pennies and suffice for most games just for retro games?
I'm just saying from my own experience, it may seem like saving to buy a "beast" and use it for both gaming and work, but counter-intuitively it must now comply with requirements of both and that can get nearly as expensive as two specialized "weaker" machines, and in case of failure: Here is the link for working Crimson drivers For those who play Crysis, it runs on DirectX 10 by default at least on my laptop.
I don't know if any CryEngine 2 or even 3 have issues with Adrenalin drivers, but Crysis will run fine unless you force the game to run in DX9 mode. In that case, force it to run in DX10 mode, just in case it fails to run. Random thought, but did Adrenalin removed any DirectX feature levels from the drivers?
On my system a laptop which has an R5 M does have all three feature levels for DirectX 9. Are we completely sure that this is an AMD issue? Yes it is definitely an AMD driver issue.
GW2 works for some people. We don't know exactly why. I've had an issue and made the mistake of "refreshing" Win Only to find that my issue with GW2 was a freesync issue. I had to disable freesync on my monitor then reenable it. The issue was fixed last night. I haven't checked other games however. Hopefully the fix is still working. I submitted a ticket to AMD, hopefully I hear something back. Received a crash in Sin Episodes: Emergence the oldest Source game I was personally able to test.
Source Engine 7 build Crashed to desktop after about 30 minutes play with the following error. Faulting package-relative application ID:. Can't roll back but I've had this game for years and I've never seen it produce this error before. Thank you for the report. This is very likely due to general issues reported with Source engine games; I'll list this game explicitly it's probably time I start doing that.
Halo Online is affected. An ElDewrito dev community project to keep it alive after shutdown found out that removing contrails from the game entirely prevents the GPU from crashing, that includes weapons projectiles contrails, "vehicle headlight" contrails and explosion effects contrails. So I can only imagine it's some shader feature that's causing the crash. I am seeing some stories pop up about AMD not supporting some old games. That is absolutely not true, we are identifying the bug and working on a fix asap.
No problems with these DX9 games: Episode One, Half-Life 2: Episode Two, Half-Life 2: Just tested my R7 Asus Strix gcn 1. R Lost Alpha, no problems so far other than it runs like crap in dx9 mode compared to dx11 mode with adrenaline drivers on dx9 mode dx10, Gona test out my R9 X later also gcn 1. I'm using a Vega 56 along with an r7 , upgraded to Adrenalin and couldn't play the Guild Wars 2 at all without it crashing after about five to 10 minutes, if it even made it that long. I was on 8.
The crashing didn't stop, not just the game crashing either. The screen would go black, peripherals disconnected and I had to manually reset or power down. Most of the time there were no crash dumps and on the rare chance one was generated, WhoCrashed said it's a third party driver.
Rolling back drivers didn't help either. Might not even need to mess with Link State Power Management, I tried that by itself first and it didn't work.
So I went to Power Save next without changing and it did. I just didn't try it out again with Power Save only because I was tired and just happy that I could play again at all. GW2 no longer crashes after five minutes of or less game activity. I was having the same problem in Warframe and Battle Chasers: Night War and so far I can play those games now without crashing too.
If you have a similar setup and have been having similar issues, try this out. The detailed report and workaround is much appreciated, even though AMD are now working on this. That is has already been confirmed false. AMD will fix the DX9 bug, they've announced. It is an issue. I upgraded to Ryzen right after black Friday, and as such installed I've been experiencing black screens since then.
I mainly play League of Legends. I don't get any error messages most of the time, my screen usually just goes black for a few seconds and comes back on most of the time. Here is a clip of the first time it happened, I happened to be streaming: At the time, I was using 3 monitors, I'm currently using 2. I even tried reverting to a way older Crimson driver, but it didn't help.
I'm going to try reverting to I'm not sure that it will fix it, but I can hope. Thank you for the data. Yes your crash is known to be caused by Adrenalin; good news is AMD is on the issue now!
I have bad news. I reverted to Crimson drivers and still had the same issue, so I decided to reinstall Windows. What's even more odd is that on a totally fresh Windows install, I'm getting issues with the Nvidia card as well.
The black screens still happen, but they're very short, and nothing appears to lock up like it did using my R9 Here is a temporal fix I think AMD will fix this: Only for Windows 10 and Catalyst Run -as administrator- install.
It adds old files from You can also do this manually, atiumd On Windows 10 you need to change registry in key: It can be or etc. Seems that eax is null and this move should be skipped?
Thank you for the detailed information and workaround. This could prove to be useful if AMDs official fix soon does not work. Just to add the voice and a couple of games to the list, I can confirm that CNC RA3 doesn't work for me - it crashes to desktop on launch.
One not on the list, but possibly related - Battlefield 4 has developed a screen tear, which affects the desktop while games are running too. Running 2 monitors, extended desktop, games on single display. Some of our customers are reporting the issue crash in atiumdag.
It's not in any game but in our UI which is used to calibrate and configure the head tracker. Posting here just in case any EDTracker users come across the thread. I'll list some popular older and newer games confirmed broken by the Adrenalin drivers that work if you roll back to Crimson drivers: Lost Alpha in DirectX 9 mode Painkiller: Gods among us crashes after a short while, works fine with Crimson Recettear: Games previously listed but removed Max Payne 2 - set CPU affinity to a single core and it runs fine or use this patch - https: Driver versions affected include Known good driver version without these issues: Try the new alpha driver from AMD: This fixes some of the games for some people.
Roll back to Crimson drivers Acceptable for less demanding DirectX 9 games as a temporary solution. Enhanced Edition Vulkan Direct3D 9 wrapper: If you are affected by this, please let us know: The game, which version and any mods you feel may be relevant Your Windows version, driver version and GPU model Are you using crossfire?
Do you use more than 1 monitor? If possible, try rolling back to an earlier driver and let us know if that fixed the problem for you. Comments How this slipped past QA is beyond me. This is now hitting various news sources: Want to add to the discussion? I can only offer a couple of possible reasons: They removed all of the API violation fixups from the driver They broke something fundamental that these games rely on - as many DX9 games do still function I'm looking into it.
Native DX9 performance on Linux! Better than native actually So you want to use AMD terrible in house opengl stack? Gallium nine isn't the default requires wine patching thus unlikely.
