Did you ever run across this issue? The other temperature stuff will make sure your fan runs to cool down your cards. I used your tutorial and got my rig to work but after powering it down to add a card when i run my minenow script the fans turn on but the whole screen flashes and goes blank and then nothing. Im using rig renting and i need to check if all rigs are working so the customers are satisfied and using teamviewer on every single rig is time consuming. Is mooching okay if I admit I'm mooching? I'll do you one better. I setup a pxe server and use the same nfs share for all miners, then I wrote a custom shell script that uses the mac address to figure out what config file to use. Takes up far less space on the hard drive, plus if I want to add a new miner I just boot and copy the cgminer config file and put in the new mac address.

I know this looks hard, but really it isn't it will take about 45 minutes to setup properly, but then you can get rid of all your flash drives and hard drives that you are using to boot your miners now.

I recommend you use Ubuntu To start you need to setup a nfs. Honestly it is easiest to do it on ubuntu I have found: Setup Netboot for ubutu on ubuntu. Couple of things on that tutorial, don't install the amd drivers until after you copy the base image to the server, and you can skip the cdrom0 part, and it doesn't mention it, but you will need to enable pxe boot on your router and point it to your server, google your router model and enable pxeboot.

Once you have that setup install the amd drivers , and download cgminer. Last of all I wrote a script to pick the correct config file based on the mac address of the computer:. I can't understand how anyone could downvote your comment Yeah I suppose at servers central network boot is preferential cost-wise. I think there are still pros-cons to each, but at that scale the cost is not negligible.

I'm trying to do this with one of my machines right now. I have a server box with 4 hard drives in raid I have like, 10 random computers sitting around that I want to connect to the server box, load and OS and then start mining. I was going to use ESXI 5. Would you maybe be able to give me more information regarding this? I've sort of looked online briefly but some of the stuff I've read is convoluted and confusing.

Haven't found a create YouTube vid for it yet either. I've been running into a lot of problems with ESXI 5. I dunno, whatever insight you could give me about this would be appreciated! I've never done a PXE boot server.

Not sure what the computers I have laying around require to be able to boot from it in the first place. Some of them are fairly old so, lol. From what I understand, that's specifically for Debian? I was really hoping to use Ubuntu for the project. Do you just use Debian yourself? I'm not so good with terminal-based OSs. I appreciate the help though! I don't think there'll be any difference if you follow the guide with ubuntu or debian, probably easier with ubuntu if you run into problem due to beginner friendlier community.

Yes I use debian on all the machine I own. And no it's not a terminal-based OS but a solid Linux distribution that let you install any desktop environment you want even if you want no desktop environment at all which is perfect for mining rig.

Yep had an emergency at work once and setup a PXE server and turned machines that were in the warehouse into a cluster computer to work through maths. Linux voltage control is the big thing holding everyone off from using it. Since i've only mined on linux, can you explain how undervolting goes differently on Windows?

Yep that's how I roll so far, all the posts about how easier to do things on windows keep me wondering if there is more to it though. Gambling on crypto is hardly a gamble. Believe it or not, most of this equipment was paid for by a single mining bitcoins almost 3 years ago.

I have it here, it has terrible memory artifacts with any memclock over , but it still works. I will gold plate it some day and maybe replace the bad memory modules. Yes in fact the 's do. Guess I can run my own kindergarten if mining washes out. I'll make another thread after.

In this case I really don't like you. Some recent ones, mostly the 's. Many are already in rigs no pics sorry, they are a bit proprietary for now. Especially when most s can be flashed with x bios and perform essentially the same. Can I ask you about the total cost, if I'm not indiscrete, of course.

This is way out of everybody on here's reach. I mean if you're rich enough to buy hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of cards, do you really need to be mining? Everything runs on V, including the card's power supplies, not pictured as they are proprietary for now turns out kw of atx power supplies is pricey.

I must ask, how did you find a place to lease where you could get a commercial rate on power? We've been in talks with some people and we just aren't finding anything. I am also from Canada if that makes a difference. Somebody you know will know somebody. Failing that look for a company that just owns and rents out commercial real estate and make a deal. That is one of the only good things. That and it's cheap to cool things down in the winter, LOL.

This way units can be power cycled remotely even if the main V line is off or they are hung at the system level. More power to you for dumping so much money into it but god damn, its shit like this that makes it nearly impossible for low-end consumer miners to come out on top due to rising diffs. If you were mining doge for the last month since it came out last month you could have paid off your cards yesterday. Personally I'm enjoying LTC difficulty going down cause everyone is jumping on the doge bandwagon!

That's what I've been doing and I'm in the black. This is an awesome endeavor, and I applaud your effort and hope you make a lot of money doing this.

I just can't stop being reminded of myself when I started mining Bitcoin and realized over three years later that I would have been better off buying the coin with all the money I sunk into mining, and simply holding it. I'd be a billionaire right now. Then again I should have extended that logic to buying gold and silver mining stocks instead of buying more of the actual metal instead. I'd still have been better off buying the metal. So easy to invest when you're buying in the past and selling in the present.

It's actually , BTU. A really nice Scandinavian-cooking quality lb sauna oven is 80, btu. Jesus I can't even get 4 x's stable on one rig I can't imagine the headache that is setting all of this up.
