Bitcoin is the clear winner of the crypto currencies and is pretty much the standard. That community is seriously pretty awesome though haha. All the other cryptocurrencies are just tied to the price of bitcoin at this point.

Failure to do so may result in a ban. I paid my rent, a month in a building, with an online currency I "mined" for free on my PC. I've heard mining uses a fair amount of electricity, though. About how much do you think you saved on your rent if you take out the electricity used? Just got lucky that I was in super early. I wonder why things like this dont happen more often?

We could bring much more ridiculousness to the scene. I still remember when this shit came out and you could mine millions pretty fast, i had a and decided to try, but the miner didn't work right off the bat and i just gave up Actually dogecoin's marketcap is at an all time high right now, thanks to a very recent bubble in all cryptocurrencies.

It's price still isn't anywhere near what it was in , and it was tanked up until this recent bump. It's price is higher right now than it was when we funded Josh Wise in The graph you posted shows it at about half the price of what it was at it's highest, unless I'm reading it wrong.

I wouldn't go with anything other than bitcoin at this point. Bitcoin is going to be the most stable and actually has some use because some places will accept it. Everything else will eventually have to be converted to Bitcoin or a regular currency to be used. Bitcoin is the clear winner of the crypto currencies and is pretty much the standard.

If you are just loosely getting in to the game, yes only go with Bitcoin, way more reputable and stable in general. Bitcoin is having a ton of issues right now with development. It being the most popular crypto is a double edged sword because it means actually technical utility has stagnated since almost no major change can be made without MAJOR community splintering.

Litecoin, the second crypto currency ever, is a direct fork of Bitcoin but with some minor changes and a smaller community. The "minor changes" it implemented and the smaller community are actually making it a more technically viable crypto than Bitcoin at the moment.

I don't think it will ever overtake Bitcoin, but for people who actually need more of the technical utility, then Litecoin is a must and will take away some market from Bitcoin.

Then there's Ethereum, which takes many of Bitcoin's very advanced planned concepts and actually implements them. Same deal, for people who want those features, Eth is a must and will take away some of the market from Bitcoin. A big issues with Bitcoin right now is it has a very very serious chance of forking due to how tumultuous the community is. If it forks, we are going to see the resulting coins lose significant value.

For a very very long time I always thought Bitcoin the winner as it is the oldest and most established similar to why gold is more valuable than other precious metals The problem though is that the investors forget that the backbone of this value is in the technical utility of crypto, and if the Bitcoin community can't stop squabbling to fix the very serious issues Bitcoin has, then it could very well be worthless.

I think Ripple is cool, but all Ripple XRP is first owned by a company and distributed as they see fit. Bitcoin is mined and distributed based on mining power. It's hard to get excited over a crypto that is distributed by a central authority when a huge advantage of crypto is supposedly decentralization.

People who have strong political beliefs in crytpo really cannot align with Ripple as there is a lot of potential for corruption in my opinion. Ripple is still great though, but to me it's more trying to work with the current system to make it better while Bitcoin is trying to replace or be an alternative for the system.

Ripple benefits and largely targets existing financial institutions and governments while Bitcoin can be seen as having more appeal to individuals directly hence more people talking about it. Ripple is kind of like a corporation with stock being used as a currency while Bitcoin is more like a digital precious metal.

I think they compliment each other very well though, but I think overall Ripple isn't really as exciting or promising long term on the scale that Bitcoin could be.

There's also just real fear that the company in control of Ripple could completely kill the currency if they wanted while Bitcoin can't really be killed by the creators.

So, Ripple it is like a currency with a central bank. Sounds like someone should do a little research on Ethereum. Dozens of big name companies including Microsoft and a bunch of banks are going in on it. Bitcoin's share of the entire cryptocurrency marketcap is at an all time low of just Bitcoin has been around for YEARS and it's literally the only cryptocurrency that the general population has even heard of.
