I have a one USB Flash litecoin image you can download and flash, headless has everything on this page, so go here. Thx ffor litecoin guide Max.
I've read a lot of people having trouble with BAMT but wouldn't it be easier to just install Ubuntu and then CGminer or whatever scrypt miner you want afterwards? I got them up to about Khash no prob. Also, HP server power supplies are confusing. It has a bios button on video card, not sure if that would help detection for some, however, my other three appear not to need it. Rolf April 11, Start "path" cgminer -- scrypt -o URL:

This will set your Engine clock to Mhz and Memory clock to Mining. Thanks to all of you for litecoin help and advice. Wow thanks one much! Then swap out the 16x card.

Okay, once booted into the Xubuntu screen means that you have successfully installed a USB bootable Linux. Next step is to install and update the drivers. The user interface of Xubuntu should be quite similar to Windows. Move your mouse down over the bottom center of the screen so that a list of icons appear.
Click on an icon that looks like a black box which is the Terminal. You may plug a monitor to each of your GPU, but it is not very practical. This will trick the OS into believing that a monitor is attached, and prevent the hardware from being idled. If you are having this problem, check out this post on How to create dummy plugs for your Graphics Cards. With SSH installed, you can continue the rest of the steps from your desktop computer. You can disconnect the keyboard, mouse and monitor with dummy plugs attached to all GPUs from your mining rig.
If you intend to manage your mining rig remotely over the internet, you may do so by forwarding port 22 on your router to the mining rig. Make sure that you have a strong password for Xubuntu. Install the mining software, CGMiner which would be the final program to install. We are almost done. Replace it with the command below. You can find the fix on the bottom of this post.
For other GPU, you may need to enter a different optimal settings for it. Also note that you will need to create an account at a litecoin mining pool, and enter your password and username into the script. I have put in coinotron as an example, there are quite a few other pools to choose from. I will guide you on how to setup the CGMiner to automatically start whenever the mining rig is powered on.
We have practically finished configuring the mining rig at this point. Actually, there is an easier way by creating an alias. I will show you how to create an alias in the next step.
You should have your mining rig up and running now. If you want to test whether everything works, the easiest way is to turn off your mining rig and turn it back on. The rest should be handled automatically by itself. Just sit back and give yourself a pat on the back and watch while your miner works automatically:.
No such file or directory. Run the following code to fix this error: That will let you actually write and save back to the usb drive when you boot right from it. I actually already have that program since I couldn't detect.
Thanks so much for all your help thus far, I would be SO in over my head without awesome people like you! Ah I see didn't know Debian was a non mining specific OS..
I was also hoping I wouldn't need those dummy plugs however I do have two monitors that I'm using for my gaming rig, so I guess I could use those until I could get ahold of dummy plugs if they turn out to be needed.
Thanks a lot for offering your help, I'm sure I will run into some problems but hoping google will suffice - although the more I read up this stuff the more I think I'm in a over my head.. Crossing fingers for it to go somewhat smoothly: I've posted a thread here: I don't have the video card you have I wish I did, but I don't have the money, nor can I find a single online store that has them in stock.
Do it through Ubuntu Once everything is installed, boot it up, and Ubuntu will ask you if you want to install "Proprietary Drivers" for your video card.
This was one of the hardest most pull your hair out projects I have ever attempted. I must have reinstalled 20 times. Let me see if I can find the links I used for you. I followed a lot of guides but ultimately this is what worked: Be sure to read every word of it even if you don't follow it exactly.
Here's my notes for this page:. The BFGMiner precompiled package installs a bunch of nvidia drivers, this caused crashes and ultimately a reinstall it was just easier than trying to clean up. I don't quite remember if that was on Debian or Ubuntu. CGminer compiled with the guide above, I think I used the older SDK listed there, but as stated above the latest drivers are working for me.
I used the gui settings panel with a monitor to run a. It felt dirty, but I had to be sure the script would only run -after- the user has logged on to the gui, and no. If you go with Ubuntu or variants, I ran into the issue here requiring nomodeset to be selected: Screen is vital for ssh access, notice you need to give it a name, cgminer in there twice below is not a mistake.
If I need to make adjustments, it's easy enough to modify the script and re-run it via ssh. Honestly I still have some room in the temperature to push the clock a little, but I am waiting on the third card. This was the guide I used to tune: I have setup in a thermaltake full atx size case with much cable control and as many fans as i can fit.
Note that turning the case on it's site increases the temp by as much as 6c, even with the exhaust out the side now on top, normally intake. There were MANY more guides than this that may have contributed individual solutions but this was the bulk of it. I will be happy to answer questions but I saw this post right as I was headed to bed, so they will have to wait until tomorrow.
Wow thanks so much! I'm trying the Ubuntu route, but if it fails I'll come back to Debian with this guide. It's a bit crazy though Yeah everything has to be open source so you can't exactly charge money for it, but it's definitely the kind of thing people with a few extra coins would be appreciative enough to donate to. Have you considered WinPE instead of Linux?
