I use this feature a lot when commuting or deadheading and the fidelity is great. On the flightdeck, they're comfortable, quiet, and easy to manage. The noise cancelling abilities of the Bose is much improved from my fifteen year old Sennheiser headset. The only drawback is bulkiness of the headset. The clips can pop off and end up all over the flight deck. It would be nice to have a place for your name and phone number on the headset in case it gets left behind. Pricey, but worth it. So efficient as they are that sometimes I forget to turn the noise cancelling on!

BUT, Bose sent me 2 spares at no charge when I called them. I've always wanted to try the Bose noise cancelling headset but didn't like the price.
I figured I would try it out for 60 days and if it was not worth the cost I'd return it and go with a standard headset. Man, what a difference! The headset is comfortable on long flights up to 4 hours is how long I've used it so far.
The way it cuts out background noise is wonderful. I'm planning on buying a second one when my wife starts flying with me regularly meaning when I buy a plane. I'd highly recommend this headset. So, I needed to get a headset. I am a research freak when it comes to buying any kind of tech gear for flying.
As such, I asked every pilot I knew about headsets and tried many myself before buying the Bose A They are in a class by themselves. They really cut out the noise and are very comfortable. The user controls are bit over-complicated, but learnable. Wish the thickness of headband was less - hinge bumps ceiling too often. Cable clamps can snap and spring apart. As a professional pilot with a head set on 3 to 4 days a week for up to 4 hours at a time, the A20 comfort puts this purchase into the no-brainer column. And with the blue tooth pairing of a phone, I can pick up ATIS without bothering my passengers, and take a call from my colleague or late passenger without strangling myself in a mess of cords.
The biggest difference for me is the ear section. Bose X gel cups sat on my ears, while the A20 sits around the ear to eliminate my discomfort and constant shifting to get blood flowing again.

He is a happy guy and the other Instructors are I'm sure jealous. Carrying case too short. Used it for first time this moring. Everything is as advertised.
I traded in my old Bose headsets for these A20's. Even more noise reduction than the old ones. My only criticism is the carrying case. Like the former case, it's too short. The cord is bent to a 90 degree angle when storing. It will eventually break the cord like my last headsets. Excellent noise cancellation and audio quality Review: I bought the A20 to replace one of the Bose X sets in my Husky. After several years ending up with sore ears after longer trips, I finally had had enough. It was a close call between the A20 and the Lightspeed Zulu, both have earcups that fit completely over the ear, unlike the X, and both have good passive and active noise reduction. Having flown both in noisy airplanes like Huskies and Super Cubs, my impression is that the A20's audio quality is clearer and crisper.
I used the A20's for the first time a couple of days ago, wearing the set for two two-hour legs. It was much more comfortable than the X, which would have just begun to hurt my ears at the two-hour mark.
I tried the bluetooth connection with my iPhone, which worked well- excellent audio for the receive side, while the people I called said they couldn't hear any background noise. I also tried out an iPod using the cord Bose supplies. The sound was great, far better than playing an iPod through the Husky's intercom using the auxiliary music-in jack on the panel. In summary, the A20 is a big improvement over the X and i wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Flying under a B shelf, I interact with Approach on a constant basis and my ability to hear instructions with the A20 is superb. Battery life is great, clamping force is less, and the headset is intuitive.

The battery pack is not an issue at all and hangs on a hook on the side windshield post. Battery life is very good. Boom mic is interchangeable to either side and perfectly made to accommodate left or right seat operations. Cord length is great. Makes radio calls much easier to understand, and that at a much lower volume than without the active noise reduction. Definitely good for hearing protection.

The tech took my information relayed it to an expert and had answer for me within the hour. A new harness showed up 3 days later. Don't know how they improved on the 10 but they did. Only bad thing is when I listen to music with them outside of the airplane i don't listen to music inside the plane they shut off every 7 minutes or so. There is an Auto-Off dip-switch in the battery compartment that will correct the issue with auto-shutoff. Have been flying for two months now with the A20's and they are awesome. My wife and I switch in flight between these and passive style.

Comfortable and quiet Cons: Suddenly the airplane is very quiet. Makes flying more relaxing and communications way less stressful. I had an opportunity to fly with the A20 in the pilot's position and the Bose X in the copilot's side. That gave me the opportunity to switch back and forth to compare the two. The noise canceling is far superior in the A I prefer the ear cup on the A20 also. Yesterdays flights were over 7 hours, and I had no discomfort at all.
I am very happy I upgraded. I also am significantly hearing impaired, and the Bose is worth every penny in my circumstance. I have found the headset to be everything Bose advertised. The A20 did not disappoint! If you're able to fork over the eleven-hundred clams, it's well worth it. When I was deciding between the A20 and the Lightspeed Zulu , the thing that caught my eye about the A20 even more than how many parts could be replaced, was that the frequency response went all the way down to 15Hz, which is below the normal range of human hearing; an extremely desirable trait to an audiophile like myself.
As I hoped, music sounds spectacular! Not to mention the communication clarity. Comfort fell a bit short of the benchmark set by pair of passive over-ear Bose headphones I have. Cable and controller are a little bulky and sometimes in the way Review: One of the biggest things for me was comfort. Previously I had been using David Clark's and they were sturdy and worked just fine, however, they were pretty uncomfortable for me. I was seeking a headset that would fit me better. I am a female, have a larger head but tiny ears. I heard some complaints about pressure on ears with the Bose I have yet to have any troubles with them.
Even with a large head, I do not experience discomfort with too much pressure from the sides. Quiet, comfortable and convenient with the bluetooth capability Cons: Leave the noise cancelling feature off till after engine start so you can hear what is going on. Very comfortable and very quiet, almost too quiet. I have used two earlier models of the Bose noise cancelling headsets and this is the best by far. Best I have ever used, no exceptions I have used Aviation headsets for almost 35 years.
These are by far the lightest and the clearest I have ever used. I was strongly encouraged to purchase my own headset instead of renting at the FBO during my flight lessons. Fatigue would be reduced aside from hygiene concerns. When I put them on for my first flight I was modestly happy with the improvement in comfort and noise reduction. And then I realized I hadn't even turned the headset on yet!
I was really happy after that! Buy the best and don't be disappointed. I did and I'm not! Price, a little expensive. It has perfect fit, very confortable for long trips and the audio quality it's superior! I don't feel yet confortable with noise reduction, due it's almost any noise from engine, but I guess in a few more trips I will be a fan of it. Bluetooth has minimal features. Now and then some technology comes along that changes the game. That's the case with the A Spendy up front, but well made and, moreover, well worth it in terms of making the noisy aircraft environment startlingly and spooky quiet.
My only complaint is that they need to refine the BlueTooth inerface and the music audio. Let's face it, on long cross country flights, great sound is fun. Bose drops that ball here. When I bought this headset, I was looking to buy a pair pilot and copilot. I also bought the Sennheiser S1 thinking I'd try 'em both, then return the second in exchange for the winning set.
I've kept one of each. The A20 to get rid of noise local flights and the Sennheiser S1 for fun cross-country.
The Sennheiser's noise-cancellation is okay, but the A20's is stunning. Vast positive difference in both noise cancellation and comfort. Bluetooth works perfectly with the iPhone. I wear hearing aids and they work fine with no feedback. Reduces cockpit noise by an incredible amount, and is barley noticeable on your head. I have now been flying for almost hours with it on Falcon and there is no way I will change. Sound is very clear very important in the environment I am flying.
The headset is comfortable even during 8 hours flights, the autonomy even better than advertised and the bluetooth just perfect. Thursday, February 21, Bose does it again! Comfortable to wear, extremely clear and the volume wheel controls are very useful. Have not tried the bluetooth feature but I anticipate this will be very helpful. The noise protection and clarity is amazing and is envied by my flight instructors several of whom plan to buy one.
